About the MPS Weft Cutter Spring
The MPS Weft Cutter Spring (M15) returns the weft cutter to its starting position after each cut on the Van de Wiele MPS velvet loom. Once the cutter has closed and trimmed the weft, the spring opens it again so it is ready for the next pick. It is a small part, but when it loses tension the cutting timing suffers.
A cutter that opens late, cuts that are missed on some picks or a cutter that sticks half open all indicate a tired spring. When replacing it, also check the play on the M3 MPS Weft Cutter Arm. M15 is made for the MPS weft cutter; for the VME and VMM selvedge cutter there is the M16 spring.
