About the VDW Carbon Rapier Set Complete
The VDW Carbon Rapier Set Complete (K1) covers both the male and female sides of the carbon rapier system that carries the weft across the shed on Van de Wiele velvet looms. The two rapiers enter from opposite sides, meet in the middle to hand over the weft, then withdraw. Buying the set as a pair means both sides are renewed together and the rapier heads meet each other cleanly, which keeps weft insertion consistent.
Look at the set as a whole once the carbon shows cracks, frayed fibres or chipped edges, or when the heads start missing picks more often. Replacing a single side against a worn partner often creates adjustment problems that are hard to trace.
