About the VDW Carbon Rapier Male
The VDW Carbon Rapier Male (K4) is the carbon body to which the male rapier head is fitted on Van de Wiele velvet looms. Because it is sold without the head, you can replace just the body when the carbon is damaged but the head is still serviceable. The body transmits the drive wheel's motion to the head and must travel straight and without vibration through the shed.
Inspect the body if you see lengthwise cracks, crumbling edges, a worn area on the drive side, or if the loom starts making unusual noises while running. When changing it, check the fit of the male rapier head and the tooth surface of the drive wheel as well.
