About the VDW Carbon Rapier Complete Female
The VDW Carbon Rapier Complete Female (K3) is the female side of the carbon rapier arrangement on Van de Wiele velvet looms, supplied complete with its head. It meets the male rapier in the centre of the shed, where the weft is transferred between the two sides. Mills use it when only the female side needs renewing and there is no reason to open up the whole set.
Consider replacement if the female side grips or releases the weft end irregularly, if the carbon shows wear marks, or if the head area has impact damage.
