About the VME - VMM Selvedge Cutter Connection
The VME - VMM Selvedge Cutter Connection (M8) is the intermediate link that joins the selvedge cutter to its drive on Van de Wiele VME and VMM velvet looms. Motion from the loom reaches the selvedge cutter through this connection, so the cutter trims the fabric edge with the same timing on every pick. It is a small part, but any play here affects the whole edge cut.
A selvedge cutter that closes late or incompletely, a knock at the joint and oval pin seats are the usual signs it should be changed. If the cutter itself is in good shape, replacing the connection alone may be enough; if the cutting element is worn too, renewing the area with the M5 VME - VMM Selvedge Cutter Complete is more practical.
