About the VDW Carbon Rapier Female
The VDW Carbon Rapier Female (K5) is the carbon body that carries the female rapier head on Van de Wiele velvet looms, supplied without the head. The female side is the half that meets the male rapier in the centre of the shed during weft transfer. When the head is still in good order but the carbon has suffered impact, rubbing or fatigue, replacing only the body is the economical route.
Cracking, shiny rub marks on the surface, a tendency to bend or wear on the drive side are all signs it may be time to change it. Along with the body, check the fit of the female rapier head and guide parts such as the MPS female guide that support the carbon.
