About the Drive Wheel Aluminium
The Drive Wheel Aluminium (K19) is the aluminium-bodied version of the drive wheel that moves the rapier back and forth on velvet looms. The wheel turns rotation into rapier travel in and out of the shed, while the pressure roller holds the rapier against the wheel to prevent slipping. The aluminium body is the choice for mills that prefer a lighter moving part.
Consider replacing the wheel if its teeth or contact face are worn, the rapier slips and insertion timing drifts, there is play at the hub, or it ticks while running. Check the pressure roller surface at the same time. For the steel-bodied alternative, see the Drive Wheel Steel.
