About the Weft Holder, Serrated
The Weft Holder Serrated (M18) is the version of the weft holder with a toothed gripping face. The serrations grip the yarn more firmly than the flat type, which is why it is preferred on velvet looms running slippery, fine or synthetic yarns where the weft end tends to escape. The holder keeps the free end of the cut weft in place until the next pick.
Worn, flattened teeth, weft ends slipping out of the holder and more stops caused by missed picks tell you it is time to replace it. If marks on the yarn surface are a concern, the M17 Weft Holder Flat may be the better fit.
