About the Weft Cutter Diamond Small
The Weft Cutter Diamond Small (M11) is the cutting insert of the weft cutter, the element in the cutter jaw that actually severs the yarn. The small type is made for cutters with the smaller diamond seat. Cutter diamonds are the most frequently changed item in the cutter group, because they touch the yarn on every pick and gradually lose their edge.
Weft that is crushed rather than cut, fibrous ends at the edge and yarn residue at the cutting point show that the diamond is getting dull. If your seat takes the larger insert, use the M12 Weft Cutter Diamond Large; for VMM looms there is the M13 Weft Cutter Diamond VMM. Clean the seat before fitting a new insert, as yarn dust can stop it from sitting fully.
