About the Weft Holder, Plain
The Weft Holder Flat (M17) grips the end of the weft yarn while it is being cut, so the end does not escape. As the cutter trims the yarn, the holder keeps the loose end in place, which lets the next pick pick up the yarn from the right position. The flat version has a smooth gripping face and is chosen where you want to leave fewer marks on the yarn surface.
A holder that lets the weft go, ends that slip and cause missed picks, or visible wear on the gripping face are signs it should be replaced. If grip is not sufficient with slippery or fine yarns, the M18 Weft Holder Serrated is the alternative. Other cutting parts are listed in the Cutter Group.
