About the Shuttle Connection Plate Male
The Shuttle Connection Plate Male (K17) is the sheet-metal plate that connects the male shuttle (the rapier head) to the carbon rapier on velvet looms. Acting as the bridge between head and body, it carries push and pull loads on every pick. A flat, sound plate lets the head enter the shed at the correct angle and meet the female side cleanly.
Replace the plate if you notice bending, enlarged screw holes, cracks at the edges, or the head moving relative to the body. A bent plate can throw out the head setting and lead to problems as serious as missed picks. If the head is also worn, renew it at the same time with the male rapier head; the opposite side uses the Shuttle Connection Plate Female.
