About the Shuttle Connection Plate Female
The Shuttle Connection Plate Female (K18) fastens the female rapier head to the carbon body. On velvet looms the female head enters and leaves the shed at speed on every pick, so this plate works under constant vibration and shock. Unlike K17 on the male side, it is made to suit the connection form of the female head.
Check K18 if the female head wobbles, the fixing screws keep loosening, or the plate is cracked or distorted. Even a small gap between head and plate can shift the weft transfer point.
