About the Rapier Rear Block (type 2)
The Rapier Rear Block type 2 (K9) is a version of the rear block made for looms whose connection layout differs from the standard K8. It does the same job: it helps the carbon rapier travel smoothly in its track and holds the rear connection firmly. Depending on the age of the loom and earlier modifications, a mill may be running either type.
Fitting the wrong type can leave the rapier with play or cause it to bind, so it is worth comparing with your existing part before ordering. Crushing on the block, enlarged fixing holes or a ticking noise while the loom runs are signs it is time to replace it.
