About the M5 Ground Module Cord, Double Bearing
The M5 Ground Module Cord Double Bearing (MG4) is the module cord, running on a two-bearing pulley, that carries the selection movement of the ground module down to the shedding assembly on an M5-type electronic jacquard. The cord makes a constant up-and-down movement over its pulleys, so both the cord and the bearings work hard throughout weaving. The double-bearing design helps the pulley turn more evenly under the cord. Code MG4 identifies the cord used with the M5 ground module.
Fuzzing, thinning or breakage of the cord, and stiffness, noise or play in the bearing, are the most common findings. A bearing that turns roughly wears the cord faster and can make the yarn on that line lift late. When a defect repeats along a single line in the base of the fabric, check this cord together with the M5 Ground Module it belongs to.
