About the Carpet Cutter Diamond
The Carpet Cutter Diamond (M14) is the cutting insert used in the weft cutter of carpet looms. Carpet weaving involves heavier yarns than velvet, so this diamond is tracked under its own code, separate from the velvet loom inserts. For mills running Van de Wiele carpet looms, it is one of the items checked regularly during cutter maintenance.
Yarn residue at the cutting point, irregular ends at the carpet edge and a cutter that crushes and tears the yarn instead of cutting it show that the diamond is losing its edge.
