About the Selvedge Waste Take-up Gears
The Selvedge Waste Take-up Gears (D10) are the gear set of the mechanism that continuously draws away the waste yarns trimmed from the fabric edge. After the selvedge cutter trims the surplus threads, these gears keep pulling the waste so the cutting zone stays clear and the edge forms neatly. Code D10 covers the gears that work together in this take-up and is the selvedge-side counterpart of the weft gear.
When waste take-up weakens, yarn piles up in front of the selvedge cutter, cutting becomes irregular and the fabric edge can turn fringed. If backlash between the gears has grown or teeth are broken, renewing the set together restores even take-up.
