About the Weft Spoon
The Weft Spoon (A7) is the spoon-shaped part of the weft monitoring device that works together with the weft fork on a velvet loom. During each pick, the interaction between spoon and fork shows whether the weft yarn is in place, and stopping the loom on a missing pick depends on this device working properly. The spoon takes its movement from the spoon linkage group listed as A5 in our catalogue; code A7 is the spoon itself.
The face that touches the yarn gradually polishes, scores or develops burrs on its edges, which can catch or break the yarn or disturb sensing. If false stop signals have become more frequent, the spoon's surface and alignment are among the first things to check. We recommend assessing it together with its counterpart, the Weft Fork.
