About the Knife Cord Dry 4 mm
The B6 Knife Cord Dry 4 mm is the dry, 4 mm diameter version of the cord that pulls the knife slide across the width of a velvet loom. Running over the knife cord pulleys and drums, it transfers motion to the slide that carries the pile-cutting knife. Dry means the cord is not oil-impregnated, so it carries no oil near the fabric. At 4 mm it is the thinnest size in the range, for systems whose pulley grooves are made for this diameter.
Replace the cord when you see fuzzing, thin spots, the slide lagging at the reversal points or the cord jumping out of a pulley groove. Always measure the cord you remove and reorder the same diameter. The oiled cord of the same size is B9 Knife Cord Oiled 4 mm, and the next size up is B7 Knife Cord Dry 5 mm.

What is the difference between dry and oiled knife cord?
Dry cord carries no oil on its surface, while oiled cord is impregnated to reduce friction over the pulleys. We suggest choosing according to the type your loom already uses and your maintenance routine.
Can I fit 5 mm cord instead of 4 mm?
It is not recommended. Cord diameter must match the pulley groove; a different size will not seat properly or will move about, upsetting the slide motion.
