About the Knife Slide, Roller Type
The B3 Knife Slide, roller type, is the carrier that holds the pile-cutting knife and is pulled back and forth through the knife bed by the knife cord. On the roller version it runs on rollers inside the bed. As the cord pulls it from one side of the velvet loom to the other, the slide holds the knife at a constant angle and height, so the pile yarns between the two fabrics are cut at the same point on every pass.
Play or uneven rotation in the rollers makes the knife vibrate. You may see wavy pile height, a blade edge that dulls faster than usual and a knocking noise where the slide reverses. When fitting a new slide, check the knife cord attachment point and the inner surfaces of the B1 roller knife bed; a new slide in a worn bed may not cure the fault.

Slide and bed are designed to work together, so they should be the same type. Any change of system should be planned together with the bed.
