About the Grinding Stone FIII
The B14 Grinding Stone FIII is the third type in the range of stones that keep the pile-cutting knife sharp on a running velvet loom. The knife wears continuously as it cuts the pile yarns between the two fabrics, and the grinding stones offset that wear so the cut stays clean. FIII is a separate designation from the other types and should be chosen only if FIII is what your loom already uses. The marking on the stone is the reference.
Store spare stones dry and away from knocks, and check for cracks or chips before fitting; a cracked stone can break up in service. Look over the knife edge whenever you change the stone. The neighbouring type is the FII Grinding Stone, and all stones and blades are listed in the Knife Group.
