About the Grinding Stone FI
The B12 Grinding Stone FI keeps the edge of the pile-cutting knife sharp while a velvet loom is running. FI, FII and FIII are separate type designations within the stone range, and the one you need is simply the one currently fitted to your loom. As the knife travels across the width with its slide, the stone touches the edge and helps the pile between the two fabrics be cut cleanly.
Signs that an FI stone is no longer doing its job include a burr on the knife edge, frayed pile tips and a change in the sound of the cut. Glazing or grooved, uneven wear on the stone face is another reason to replace it. The next type in the range is the FII Grinding Stone; blades and other parts are in the Knife Group.
The FI stone is a Göktürk-made equivalent. If you cannot read the marking on your stone, send us a photo on WhatsApp +90 541 951 44 10 and we will identify the type together and quote.
FAQ
How do I choose between FI, FII and FIII?
Order the same designation that is already fitted to your loom. If the marking is unreadable, send a photo and we will identify it with you.
Should the knife be changed together with the stone?
Not always. If the knife edge has deep nicks or is badly dulled, a new stone alone may not be enough, so renew the blade as well.
