About the Selvedge Knitting, Needle Type
The KO1 Selvedge Knitting Needle Type is the needle-style part of the selvedge knitting device that binds the edge of the fabric. On every pick the needle catches the selvedge yarn and locks the end of the weft, so cut weft tails stay in place and the edge does not fray. The needle type is used on set-ups where the selvedge yarn is carried by a hook-like tip. We identify the right type for your loom from a photo.
A burred, bent or blunt needle tip lets the selvedge yarn slip, which opens the edge or causes more yarn breaks. Clean and check the needle and the yarn path before the edge fault becomes permanent.
